Background

Confined spaces are significantly more hazardous than normal workplaces. The hazards involved may not be unique to confined spaces, but are always exacerbated by the enclosed nature of the confined space. The resulting injuries are potentially fatal. A seemingly insignificant error or oversight while working in a confined space can result in a tragic accident. This one day course will enable participants to work safely in confined spaces.

On successful completion of this training course, delegates should:

• Appreciate the hazards of working in confined spaces.
• Understand the process of carrying out a risk assessment.
• Be familiar with the elements of a safe system of work.

Pre Course Requirement

The company must have a safety harness and tripod, and a suitable confined space e.g. a manhole, silo, tank for a practical demonstration during the course.
