Background

Accessibility of the built environment affects a large number of people within society. The ideal way of overcoming accessibility barriers is to minimise or prevent their existence through designing universally accessible buildings.

Universal design refers to the design and composition of an environment so that it can be accessed, understood and used to the greatest extent possible by all people, regardless of their age, size or disability

This one-day course is designed for architects and building professionals who wish to gain an understanding of accessibility issues, universal design guidance and develop the skills necessary to carry out design appraisals for creating accessible environments.
